Review: Bare Minerals Starter Kit, Eyes, Lips, Cheeks

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Bare Minerals and a new counter just opened in my local city, naturally i was so excited! I'd already got the foundation etc. But i really wanted to try out their eyeshadows, as like the foundations they have a powder to cream formultion, which i really like as you don't get fall out as you would if you were using normal loose pigments. So I went to the counter and asked to the SA to help me chose some eyeshadow etc.

The SA did like a mini makeover on my eyes so that i could try out the eyeshadows and brushes, and really liked them, so i asked her which ones to buy, and she suggested to get the Bare mineral "Starter Kit: Eyes, Lips, Cheeks" because they come with much smaller samples of the eyeshadows (0.28g in case you wondering!) compared to the normal sized eyeshadows (0.57g) and the kit costed £42 which also came with Blush, Brushes and lipgloss so i thought BARGIN!!! As I'm never going to use a huge pot of loose eyeshadow that costs £14 a pot, and as it came with brushes i was even more happy because I LOVE BRUSHES, and considering that that it came with 3 regular brushes that would have cost £47.50 buy them selves i would have just brought it for the brushes, sure there not MAC brushes but they do the job pretty much the same! And i love the fact that they are smaller than the average brush so there really easy to travel with!

So in my kit I got 3 eyeshadows, "Cream Soda",  "Rapture" and "Tigers eye" (which is actually a liner eyeshadow), 1 Blush in "First class ",  a Boxom lipgloss in "Sugar" and 3 brushes, a Angled Blush Brush, a Eyeliner Brush and a Duo Ended Contour and Define Brush!
The thing i love about this starter kit is that they come in different skin tones, so you have Fair to Light, Light to Medium, Medium to Tan and Tan to Deep. I got the Fair to Light, but thats mainly because i liked the colours, so you don't have to stick to the colours get the kit that you like the colours of most, its money in the end so buy want you want.

So here's what i got in the kit minus the lipgloss as i forgot to include it! oops!

A little close up of the products, sorry you can't see the shade "Cream Soda"

And another little look, so from the bottom the eyeshadows are "Cream Soda", "Rapture" which actually looks a lot darker in person and "Tigers eye"

Birds eye view!

From left to right "Cream Soda" "Rapture" "Tigers Eye"

From left to right "Cream Soda" "Rapture" "Tigers Eye"

Unblended Swatches Top to bottom:  "Cream Soda" "Rapture" "Tigers Eye"

Blended Swatches

Packaging of the blush, I don't get why it has an "i.d" on it and the other don't?

"First Class" Blush

Blended in colour

The brushes!!

Overall i found the eyeshadows great as they are a really nice texture and are easily blendable as they are powder to cream! One downside however is that the The blush is great as it looks like it has a lot of shimmer in it in the little tube thingy but on it doesn't really have any! Which it good for me as I'm not a fan of Sparkle Blushes. The one thing i don't like in the packaging because unlike the foundation, warmth and mineral veil they don't have the twist and look system which annoys me as how am i supposed to travel with them!!! They would just get every were!!! The brushes, what else can i say i love them, there soo soft and just really really good brushes!
I think that this would be a great starter kit with the foundation starter kit thingy for anyone who is interested in trying out Bare Minerals products as i feel that you get a good taste from the products and just get to try them out really!

So do you use Bare Minerals makeup what do you think of it? What's you favourite Bare Minerals Products? Comments Below! :)

Review: Frontcover Style Queen Box!!!

Hey Everyone!!
Wow this is my first blog!!! So anyway i few days ago i got a late birthday present from a family friend and got this:

TA-DAH!!!! It looks pretty cool right??? So anyway i thought I'd do a review on it!!
So without further ado...
So as you can see above that's what the box looks like from the outside, so this is what it looks like from the inside!

Soooo heres the first little picture of the first tray in the box, so as you can see on the little bit that opens up (the bit with mirror on it) there's little "How To's" which basically tells you how to curl the eyelashes and how to create the look on the front of the box. And then the first row is "Baked Eyeshadows", which is basically Frontcovers version on MACs Mineralize Eyeshadows, the second row is just normal eyeshadows the third throw is lipglosses, then a black tube in the middle is a "Shadowline" which I will explain later, the firth row is an assortment of things, the first and last domes on the line are "Cheek Domes" these are basically Frontcovers version of MACs Mineralize Skinfinishes and the two round pots in the middle are pigments and last but not least is the "Mascara and Fixer" this is pretty much what it says on the label!

Just thought I'd give you and extra little look at the First Tray.... YES you got me right thats only the first tray.....

BOOM! So if your like me and obsessed with brushes you can kinda guess my reaction... it was sort of in between a gasp and a scream!!

Now if you don't live in the UK you may not be familiar with the Frontcover brand, its basically a brand that is based around sets of makeup, and normally the chosen gift for girls. If your interested they are available most department stores such as Debahams, house of Fraser and also boots.

So I just thought i give you a closer look at the "Get the Look" areas:

Now, on the reviewing!!

First up eyeshadows!

So as you can see the kit comes complete with 13 eyeshadows; 7 "Baked Eyeshadows" and 6 regular "Eyeshadows"
So here's a little overview of the top tray.
So on the first row (from left to right) the colours are: Vanilla Ice, Peanut, Cumin, Sandstone, Brunette, Grey Grey and Amber Green
The second row are the normal eyeshadows (From left to Right) the colours are: Brown Peach, Gardie Grey, Jenny Wren, Brown Cork, Burnt Cork and Bostock Black.

So here are the swatches of the "Baked Eyeshadows", so on my hand they are swatched the opposite way to the palette, so from left to right:
Amber Green, this is a really pretty green, with gold and silver undertones.
Grey Grey, which is you typical silver/ grey colour with metallic undertones.
Brunette, a dark, deep brown with a tiny amount of shimmer.
Sandstone, a golden shimmer colour, this is probs my favourite colour out of the palette. And if you mic this with Brunette you get a colour very very similar to MAC "Woodwinked". This also looks great with "Sandstone" in the crease
Cumin, this is a gorgeous pink with silver shimmery undertones is also one my faves from this palette.
Peanut, this is a peachy shimmery, probs golden undertones and is also really really nice, this would look really nice with "Sandstone" or  "Brunette" in the crease and then "Grey Grey" on the outer V.
Vanilla Ice, this is a typical white-glittery colour, this is a very easy colour to get a hold of as many "Drugstore", i know thats an amercian term, but i couldn't think of any other terms for shops like boots or superdrug. This would look good with basically any colour in the crease, or as a highlight!

So, all in all the "Baked Eyeshadows" are of reasonable quality, but i feel that its not very pigmented, so i have to apply many many layers of eyeshadow to get my desired affect.

Next up!!!! "Normal" eyeshadows sooooo from  left to right, we have:
Bodstock Black, this is the ONLY matte colour in the whole palette! So this is basically a matte black. Its not as black as "Carbon" by MAC. But its still a normal matte black
Burnt Cork, this is a grey-brown blackish colour with a bit of antique shimmer in it, you could totally layer this over "Bodstock Black" for a more shimmer black or use as liner for a different black styles liner.
Brown Cork, this is a golden brown colour with silver undertones, this is actually quite similar to MAC "Woodwinked"
Jenny Wren, this is a taupe brown is a really nice colour with sightly grey undertones
Gardie Grey, this colour is NOT grey, i don't get why its called "Grey" its not grey its green, its a greeny, silverly colour once again with shimmer!
Brown Peach, this is a really nice everyday shimmerly nude, peachy pinky colour this is probably my favourite out of these eyeshadows!

So I'd say that the shadows in general in the palette have a nice shade variety, but however the colours are not very pigmented, so as i mentioned before you do need to apply a lot to get an intense colour. And there is only matte colour the rest a shimmery or have glitter in them, so i wouldn't recommend it to people who do not like shimmer.

Lips, Lips, Lips!!

So in this palette there are 6 different lipglosses, they are: Langoustine, Icy Pink, Singed Pink, Peru, Red Moon, Brickwall.

So here are the swatches, from left to right we have;
Brickwall, a sort of dusty red, not quite pure matte red, i think it probably has a bit of brown in it. But it is a nice colour that has shimmer, its quite pigmented and quite a nice every day read.
Red moon, this is just you basic shimmery, red lip colour. But not very pigmented, i feel that if i don't layer it on my lips its just more of a reddy, pink
Peru, this is a super unique colour, however it didn't show up very well when i swatched it, but its a browny, rose gold colour, with golden shimmer, this is a really unique colour compared to the rest of the lip colours.
Singed Pink, this is similar to Peru but less brown its more on the pink side.
Icy Pink, a really basic shimmery baby pink. Average.
Langoustine, this is basically a lip version of the "Baked Eyeshadow" "Vanilla Ice",  however it easily blends out and basically is a clear shimmer gloss to put on top of matte lip colours.

Shadowline

I got really excited when i saw this product and thought it was so cool, its basically like the "Urban Decay Transforming potion", and i was actually thinking about getting it, so when I got this I was so happy! But then, i tried it, it really is useless, it doesn't pick up enough colour to create a coloured eyeliner and it just slips off the eyes!! I just realized that i didn't tell you what it actually does! So for those who aren't familiar with it, its basically a clear liquid liner than you dip it into eyeshadow, pigments etc. And then use it as eyeliner, one of the problems i have with it is too liquidly, and you can't get a really nice line and wing with it!
I so really NOT impressed with product.

Next up... Cheek Domes, Pigments and Mascara and Fixer

So this is the first cheek dome, this is a bronzer style one, Similar to "MAC Mineralize Blushes" because as you can see it has a Pinky side which really is beautiful, then a Browner, bronzer colour, then a more golden brown colour. However the one thing i didn't like about it was that fact that it is really, really shimmery!

So, the first swatch is all three of the colours blended together, as you can see it looks slightly orangey on my skin, as I'm quite fair, but this would look great on darker skin tones, as a shimmerly bronzer. Then (From left to right) the golden toned brown colour, then the deeper brown colour, then my Favourite colour! The pinky bronzer colour which is LUSH!

How cute are these little pots of pigments, there so cute!!! So basically this is what the "Shadowline" is surposed to be used with, but to be honest i really don't like the "Shadowline" this pigments are really pigmented, hince the name "Pigments". So look below for swatches...

So here are the pigments, both pigments are really nice as they have a tiny bit of shimmer in it just to give  a bit of a glow, heres a close up of the brown pigement, which is my favourite! Here it looks kind of muddy, but thats what i like about it, its like a muddy brown colour.

Here are the two pigments blended to my hand what to do you think???

So, heres another Frontcover "Cheek Dome", this really isn't for the cheeks its more of a highlighter and looks very similar to MAC minerlize skinfinshes.

So on the furtherest to the left is all the colours mixed together, then the golden colour in the cheek dome, then the middle is blueish colour then the shimmery pink!

So here is the Frontcover "Mascara and Fixer", which is basically a mascara!! WOW!!!, I haven't actually used it yet as I'm in LOVE with my Dior, Diorshow mascara sooooo Good!!!! I only have a sample of it, but it is amazing!! However I'm not quite sure I'd spend £29 (I know soooooo expensive) on it!!!
So because i haven't used it i thought i'd just give you an overview of the product and what it looks like!

The packaging

The mascara comb, its one of those curved wands, not too keen on it to be honest.

The fixer, its basically got the same texture as brow gel/ tint, so basically is like a clear mascara.

Tray 2 - Brushes!!!

First, I didn't even realise that the tray was there, but then i saw the little instruction book show brushes sooo i was omg were are this brushes!!! And here they are!! There are 6 brushes, 1 face brush, 4 eye brushes and 1 lip brush

So here's the first brush in the set and it's the "Cheek" brush and this is basically a blush brush, i was happy surprised when i used it its very quite soft, and picks up colour quite well, but of course its not the best, but it does the job.

"Fluff and buff" brush, yes that really is what it's called? it's quite a big brush, but its good for using for highlighting i guess and swiping colour over the lid.

This is the "rounded shader", its really good for applying and packing eyeshadow on the lid, as you can see did use that one quite recently. Once again it does the job.

This brush is the the "point +" i really don't get the point (Haa get it? It's called "Point +") of this brush it really is useless, its got the structure of a pencil brush, but its just tooo big, so you can't smudge eyeliner, bring colour to your lower lashes or use it on the lower lashes?? POINTLESS!!!!

The "Mini Blender", THIS is like what the "point +" should be like, it smudges, brings colour under the lower lashes and you can use it on your outer V!!!!

The lip brush. This is such i coool brush i love it (Kinda?) it looks like tube and then y... its just too hard to explain but i just love the idea of this brush. Soooo coool. However, the actually brush, it's like... Do you remember when you were little and you used to get little "Makeup kits" and they used to have those little brushes? Yes. Well thats what this brush is like. Major fail....

Eyelash Curlers!

So me being me i don't use eyelash curlers, i know... but i just don't i really don't know why?? So when i got this i was excited to try them. However i've never owned any other eyelash curlers so i don't know what to compare them to, and if there any good?? But i would say they are very good, but i have quite curved eyelashes anyway and i felt that they sort of straightoned then a bit???

Pencil sharpener, Standard, i mean its a pencil sharpener.

Brush Comparsion

Frontcover "Rounded shader" VS MAC 217

Frontcover "Fluff and Buff" VS Bare minerals Contour and define brush

Soooo all in all, i think that the makeup is generally quite good, a bit too shimmery for my likings, and some of the colour need to be more pigmented, but all in all good. The brushes I do like and are  quite soft, even compared to MAC brushes!! I think this would be a really good kit for starters for people who want to build their makeup kit.
I know that the box is quite big, and I've found it quite hard to store, but i figured that you can simply depot the eyeshadows, lipglosses etc but just pushes them out and putting them into a Z palette, what you can find on the internet.

So do you own one? What do you think about it?
